This is the kind of fish that is just there in the middle of the aisle of the local supermarket. I just have to hold my breath and avert my eyes.
Sister Magbanua (Sister Mags) and Sister Parin.
On a Saturday Morning walk, we wound our way through random sois.
We passed street vendors with outside seating...
Shark fin soup, yummy.....umm, NO!
and Ladies selling Lottery tickets, we passed on those also.
A broom and cleaning supply salesman. And a happy fruit man!
Sister Kampan and I had the
same idea as we dressed for the day. She is a Thai from the Asoke branch serving temporarily in our mission while she waits for her visa to the US. She will serve in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission
On our way to Father Joes Mercy Center we went down some pretty narrow Soi's.
The Mercy Center is in the Slauterhouse neighborhood, one of the poorest slums in Bangkok, Father Joe runs this amazing place that houses many orphans, I think around 150. And then also offers free school to the children of the neighborhood. We "helped" in a pre- school though I think we may have been more of a distraction. We loved the sweet kids there.
Lunch time was some chicken and rice and then ice cream for dessert
Fathers Day Dinner and Fun with the Senior Couples. We are so blessed to have these amazing people to serve with.
L to R. President and Sister Johnson, Us, Elder and Sister Ricks - PEF/SR, Elder and Sister Ellsworth - Humanitarian, Elder and Sister Christensen - Family History and Elder and Sister Jensen - Laos Humanitarian. They will be leaving for Laos soon. Sister Martell took the picture, she is our wonderful mission nurse.
Wonderful photographs. I just found out that my cousin's son will be serving in the Bangkok mission; Elder Larson arrives in September. The photos from the orphanage/school really pulled at my heartstrings. As John knows, I have three girls adopted from China, and each time I've visited their orphanages, I'm saddened that I can't do more for the children left behind. I can only imagine what good it did their sweet hearts to spend time with you all. Thank you for your continued service.
