Bangkok is full of motorcycles, they are everywhere! If you need to get somewhere really fast, you can hire one and they will take you cheaply. They weave through the traffic to get to the front of the pack, so when the light turns green it is like the start of a motocross race. The worst part is that in many places they go on the sidewalks so you never know when one will go flying past just missing you.
Those dangerous motorcycles. We have the same here. 2 of our sister missionaries have had burned legs from motos passing too close and we have had 2 other missionaries with serious injuries from youths doing a wheelie and loosing control and in 2 different incidents the missionaries were mowed over by the out of control bike. These bikes rule the roads here and weave in and out of traffic. It is very dangerous. Missionaries are prohibited to mount bikes here:)
